Listening Lesson

 Now as usual today is the fifth meeting for the listening course that comes every Thursday, but today is a holiday so we are only given assignments without meeting the lecturer.  

Not much different from yesterday's assignment, we were given some audio and our job was to listen to and answer quizzes.  I still find it difficult to hear and understand what the audio is saying.  But that's okay, I will continue to practice and hone my listening skills.  With this course, I was greatly helped and slowly I was able to understand a little even though it was difficult, but I took lessons from the process.

Today's assignment has three tracks, each has two quiz, so there are six quiz in total. Honestly, today's assignment is difficult but I can still do and understand a little.

Listening Lesson

    Today, in the third meeting, we studied listening and are still studying online at home. If I take a look at the assigments in this semester, there are differences with the assigments in the previous semester, namely now we are doing assigments in the form of quizzes, and I prefer the quiz method like this.  Because with quizzes, we can easily improve our ability to listen and speak English, and also catch conversations in English even though it's a bit difficult, but I'm not discouraged.

    Learning begins by opening the saym.ok website to fill in attendance.  then continue with google meet where the link is already in syam ok so we just have to click on it. while doing the quiz, I had a little problem listening to the audio.  As usual the problem is still the same, namely the pronunciation is too fast and unclear for me.  My mistake today is paying less attention to the use of capital and lowercase letters.  But I will continue to hone my listening skills.

    My message to all of us is to keep up the spirit and never give up. Keep practicing to improve yourself for the better.

The Second Meeting of the Listening Course

    Today is the second meeting I entered the lecture bench for this semester.  As usual the lecture system is still carried out online.  where students are still carrying out learning at their respective homes using applications that have been prepared by UNM this year, namely syam ok.  but there are also many students who still have difficulty using this application because this is the first time using it.  fortunately we have implemented this application from the first semester so it's not too difficult to use it this year.

    We are directed to access syam ok where the first assignment of the day starts with making an idea or suggestion about this listening course.  Then proceed with working on four audios with a quiz.  For me, today's lecture is quite smooth where I can complete my assignments on time even though the audio is not clear and there are a few wrong answers to my quiz.  but after I reviewed my answer, I saw that some of my answers were correct with the real answer, I don't know what caused my answer to remain wrong on that question.  but I am already grateful because I am not constrained by time so I can finish the quizzes until the end, because I see many of my friends who are late working on the third and fourth audio.  Somehow they got late on the third and fourth quizzes. 

     But I hope their lateness today can be a lesson for us to do our assignments properly and on time.  I think that is my experience today in learning to listen.

Learn Part I

  It doesn't feel like second semester has entered. Lectures in the second semester started on February 10 yesterday. Even though it is still online based, I am still excited about taking this lecture. The day before the class starts, the lecturer has sent us a link for access to the syam ok application.

     When the listening class started, the first thing I did was access the syam ok application to fill in attendance. then open the zoom application because the lecturer will discuss the lecture contract in the listening course. after finishing zooming, we are directed to access syam ok because mam will give assignments and the deadline is until 12 at night.

    The assignment was given in the form of audio with a duration of three minutes where there were six conversations on different topics. our job is to listen and then summarize what is in the conversation. then write down the new vocabulary that is in the conversation. While doing the listening task, I had a little trouble hearing every word that was heard in the audio because the conversation was too smooth and needed to be repeated many times to get the right sentence. I also asked for help from my parents who happened to be English teachers.

    What we hope is that this covid pandemic will end soon so that we can lecture face-to-face and meet with friends and lecturers. stay healthy for all of us and adhere to health protocols. Thank you and see you next blog.
